Yakman is a public health foundation established primarily to uplift the lives of people in disadvantaged communities of Zambia by providing:
- Clean drinking water
- Sanitation and
- Solar power.
We seek to provide healthy living and prevention of water borne diseases through clean water provision in Zambia. We believe that millions of lives in disadvantaged areas will be saved as a result of the availability of clean water. In the absence of conventional electricity supplies, we aim to decrease deforestation and raise the standard of living in disadvantaged communities by introducing solar power as an alternative to charcoal and firewood use. Within our motto of “Giving – Acting – Serving – Inspiring”, we shall aim at turning the younger generation into agents for positive change in their communities.
The Foundation shall mobilize material, financial, educational and intellectual capital resources for the advancement of healthy living among the disadvantaged rural and urban communities of Zambia on a charitable basis. This will be carried out through the provision of clean water, solar power and the dissemination of education on basic concepts of hygiene. Our goal is to facilitate change by:
- Empowering communities
- Promoting hygiene
- Promoting environmental education
- Engaging internal and external stakeholders
- Uplifting children through sustained education
